MSMR Architects Short Listed For The Housing Design Awards 2011
The Alice Street site is a long, narrow, derelict, former car park running parallel to Tower Bridge Road, acknowledged by Southwark Council to be “less than attractive”. The innovative design for this scheme means nine 4 and 5 bedroom affordable family homes for the social rented sector will be built. Public and private amenity space is a priority and the arrangement of living spaces around a courtyard connects the inside and outside areas both visually and physically. The winners the Housing Design Awards 2011 will be announced at an awards ceremony on 14th July at Portcullis House opposite the Houses of Parliament.
